How a Personal Coaching Retreat Can Help You Clarify What’s Next
I’ve always been someone who sees.
Not just the surface of things, but what’s underneath. What’s waiting. What’s possible.
I see people before they see themselves. I see the moment their guard drops, the shift in their voice when they say something that’s finally true. And I see the path forward, even when it’s still covered in fog.
That’s how I knew this land—CC Blue Ranch—was ours. Long before it had fences or gardens, buildings, or even a name. I stood at the edge of these 35 acres, closed my eyes, and I saw the whole thing. Not in perfect detail, but in essence. I saw a life here…I saw a Nxt.
And here’s what I know now: That ability to see isn’t a quirk; it’s my purpose.
Literally. I went through a process years ago called The Dig with my friend Erin Weed. It’s a deep dive into your life story, your patterns, your values—and at the end, you distill it all into one word. One word that captures the essence of your purpose.
Mine? SEE.
It made perfect sense, because that’s what I do. In my work, in my life, in my partnerships, I see. And during Immersions, I help others do the same.
Sometimes You Have to Close Your Eyes to See Clearly
If you’re in a transition—career change, relationship shift, or retirement-that’s-not-really-retirement—you already know the feeling. Something’s ending, and something else wants to begin. But you’re stuck in that fuzzy in-between where the details haven’t shown up yet.
That’s okay.
You don’t have to know exactly what it looks like. But you do need to be able to see something. A glimmer. A shape. A sense of direction.
I always tell clients: This isn’t just about mapping out your Nxt steps. It’s about painting the big picture of what your Nxt could do for your life. Not the job title or the floor plan or the “shoulds.” But the feeling of it.
How do you want to work?
What kind of space do you want to live in?
Who do you want to spend your energy on?
design your work/relationship/life-style to fit you?
What would life look like if you could design your work/relationship/life-style to fit you?
You’ve got to be willing to dream a little here, and have an open mind.
That’s what I mean when I say see.
Tim Forgot How to Dream
I once coached a client, Tim, who wanted to change careers. He came to me with a bullet-point list of requirements: remote, flexible, title-specific, same industry.
When I asked, “Why that job?” his answer was, “Because it’s what I’ve always done.”
Yikes.
So I asked him to try something different. I said, “Close your eyes. Tell me what you want your work to feel like.”
At first, he couldn’t. He’d forgotten how to imagine anything outside the path he’d already walked. But eventually—after some nudging—he said: “I want to work with people who value my input. I want to build systems that matter. I want to feel proud of what I make.”
Now that is vision. That was something we could work with.
And that’s the moment his clarity began to take shape—not from a job description, but from a feeling.
What Do You See?
If you’re feeling stuck right now, I invite you to step out of the spreadsheets and to-do lists and just… pause.
Close your eyes.
Take a breath.
What do you see?
Not what you think you “should” do. Not what everyone else expects. But what you want.
Maybe it’s a quiet morning and a slower pace. Maybe it’s a different kind of work—creative, impactful, aligned. Maybe it’s a home that finally feels like you.
It might feel far away, and it might feel fuzzy. That’s okay! You don’t need to see the whole picture right now. But if you can even get a glimpse—that’s the beginning of finding your Nxt.
Want Help Seeing It?
That’s exactly what I do at The Immersion, my private life coaching retreat at the ranch. It’s not just about coaching, though. It’s about having the space, support, and dedicated time to exhale, recalibrate, and finally see what wants to come next.
Whether you’re at a crossroads in your career, navigating a personal shift, or simply craving clarity—you don’t have to do it alone.
If that sounds like something you need, let’s talk.
